Changed the rear pads at 13k, first change, but only getting 4k from a rear Conti, down to canvas.

Are you fitting part worn tyres

I ride fairly quickly and scratch it harder than most, and not as hard as some.
Current Conti RA has 1k Scottish miles in it, which is nigh on 2k UK miles.
TP checked weekly, Plus the odd kick.
I don't expect, or get high miles from my tyres. Was surprised the rear pads lasted as long.
