Hi Chaps

Got my GSA a couple of weeks ago, first BM, and am seriously impressed. These sound like daft questions, but I'm asking anyway.
The screen is currently at its most raked position and I am getting buffeting and noise so decided it may improve if I tweak the screen position. But the adjusters only seem to unscrew a little way before going tight again. they dont back out far enough to allow me to alter the angle? What am I doing wrong?

Also, where have you fixed your tax disc holder? (somewhere fairly discreet)?

Thanks

GG

:nenau Just undo the adjusters a couple of turns and move the screen up or down.
Try a bit of RTFM.
If you unscrew all the way, you get to the point where you are against the locknuts which stop the adjusters potentially falling off the bike.

I added a Wunderlich screen extender. Haven't had the visor down on the bike yet.

I did RTFM before I posted here, it just says unscrew the adjusters. Well they only seem to unscrew about 1 turn before it all goes tight and I didn't want to force it.

I had the same problem on my gsa, if you look at the screen where the adjusters are there is a small peg which stops the screen adjusting past halfway, according to the dealers this is due to the wind plastic wind deflectors each side of the screen .

Tax Disc Position

Any place on the bike you can tighten the faster enough to stop it falling off! Just treated the Adv to an Oberon cylinder holder, looks quite nice and now trying to get my mate to get something better than those dealer supplied holders. He says if he has a cheap holder no one will nick his bike.

Hi GG

Had the same thing with the screen a few weeks back when I had my new GSA, first BM too :D:D

The lock nuts on the back of the adjuster screws seemed to have been tightened too much and wouldn't allow them to undo enough to make adjustments.
I just loosened them a little until it did the job then left them alone.:thumb

Cheers

Tax disc position

I have mounted my tax disc on the rear right indicator mount, remove one screw, mount the disc holder in front of the indicator. I was told by BMW dealer that the tax disc was meant to be on road side not curb side, for some reason, but not issues as yet.

If you need a pic I can upload it no bother.

Try a Touratech screen extender. Probably the best money i have spent on any bike. It transforms the ride for me. But i am quite tall. No buffeting now:)

Got to say that works.... I fitted a GSA screen and winglets to the SE I had last year, and was still getting buffeting....

So on the Euro trip borrowed a TT screen extender off another tosser for a couple of hundred miles, and didn't want to give it back....

I could actually hear the engine, and kept subconsciously trying to find an extra gear when in top due to that ;)

Well worth buying one, and you can always pass it on quickly on here

GSA Screen Mod

GG,
Have a go at this, look at the black plastic section behind the adjuster nut that is shaped and notched to match the bike and gives you the adjustment. There is a nipple / lug on the top that stops the screen moving further forward, if you cut it off the screen will go forward another 2 notch's. There is a 10mm lock nut on the inside of the rake adjuster, you need to take it off to remove the adjuster. Take it off the bike, remove the lug with a hacksaw and file it flat for a nice finish and refit.

I did this to my 08 GSA and I've done the same with my 10 plate. I'm 6ft tall and I can cruise at 90 Mph with the visor up no problem. I wear a tour X3 and even with what is supposed to be a 'noisy' helmet I don't get any buffeting at all (until I'm in behind the obvious lorry's and vans etc.)

Let us all know how you get on.

Did the same ..cut the lug off my mates 57 GSA much much better
Cost ...nowt:thumb2

Cheers Guys

I unscrewed the lock nut on the back of the adjuster which has given me enough clearnace to move the screen to a more upright angle. Will see how it works before considering the Wunderlich. Will keep ya posted :clap

Iirc the tax disc must be on the near side and in front of the head stock to comply fully with the law however I have mine behind the left cylinder head where it has shelter from the elements and anyway it's a photocopy with the original in my wallet in case the one on the bike gets nicked :thumb

On the nearside, & to quote the regs., "in front of the saddle", although I think it would be amazing if anyone quibbled as long as it's displayed & visible.

Glad that worked GG.

I went for the Wunderlich over the TT one purely on a whim but it works for me. Currently set on it's lowest position, with the screen up as far as possible but the air blast goes up and over the top.
I am 6' 4", only bike I've found where - with the screen deflector on - on a flat road my line of sight is a narrow band just above the top.
Over the crest of hills looks odd at first as normally I never looked through the plastic screen on the K100Lt etc.

Hi Chaps,

Help!!:blast:blast

Just searching and found this thread.
I have removed the screen adjusters on my 07 GSA cut the lugs off each side to allow more vertical screen adjustment.
Now I have reasembled there is hardly any thread showing to get the lock nuts back on.
I have put left and right back on correctly and they seam to sit flush.
Any ideas what I have done please?? or photos/diagram on correct reassembly proceedure:comfort

Many thanks

John
