GS's to APPLECROSS....April 2015......?

Columbus,
Many thanks! As you may have noticed, Shinyface happened to walk into my place today and purely by accident, we discovered our connection on UKGSER.....
Appreciate any promotion you can give the weekend!

I take it you run a cafe. Whereabouts I might get away some day

Hey Guigsy......
Just had folks in the cafe today. A couple on Honda CBR and VFR's who will be headed North from the Borders area. The lady said that she "just straps her things onto the rear of her 400RR".
GetGeared or Sportsbike Warehouse has these great bags, a sort-of-cross between saddlebags and a top-roll that really conforms to the shape of race-bikes.....?

I think it's more a case that they can't be arsed with all that camping stuff... I go camping regularly, but I've not done it on the bike before.

Columbus......
Bonnethill Rd, Pitlochry...

From 2006 to 2010 we used to have the main start for Applecross outside our place there..... Two years with Police BMWs as out-riders.

Arriving at The Green Welly, both police riders thanked me profusely....."the FIRST time we have EVER ridden non-stop to Tyndrum.....any time you need us again.....?"

Guigsy....

American tent company - Redverz, makes a tent in which you can park your bike - under cover. Great idea - IF you are staying in one place fir a few days but it looks damn bulky!

One of the "Old Guard" who used to ride with us every year bought a Hilleberg tent for riding, lightweight and perfect but....OMG - around £400.00....

I'll keep it in mind :thumb2

I've actually got a tent that I intent to camp with. It's a small tunnel tent with a side porch that has extra short poles so it goes on the bike without hassles. Something like 3kg. It's not a dedicated bike tent (and it's only just about big enough to sit up in) but it was 75% off at £40 and I couldn't resist. Realistically only good enough for dry weather as it'd be a bitch to get your boots on and off in the tent...

Well, if you are still thinking about camping, the Lochcarron campsite might be open but even if not, the lady doesn't mind if you pitch there.
As for Applecross, they have the upside-down-boat style camping cabins which negate the need to pitch tents but folk do "wild-camp" along the shore and near the beach. Camp fires nearby in fire-pits. Kinda fun in that location and there are trees around where tents are erected so if you carried a tarp and tent-pegs......?
Making me want to do the same!

Accommodation for the Applecross Weekend.....

Lochcarron Hotel......
Still has plenty of rooms, restaurant for dinner, good breakfasts, plenty of bike parking and the owner is a biker...... 01520-722-226

Rockvilla Hotel / B&B
Peter Bartlett.....again, rooms, restaurant, parking

Loch Dubh B&B.....

The Manse B&B...... (Possibly the best locally)

Strathcarron Hotel.....slightly outside the town but good restaurant!

Camping at Lochcarron is directly behind the hotel.....
