I think I'm sarting to fall into bad habits again.. Just started the rebuild of my R80 Cafe racer and was offered a suzuki GSX750W in need of TLC for 200 quid... And so another project enters the garage and the R80 gets pushed into the depths again...

The afternoon it was dropped off...

And today.. after a day of cutting/welding and generally playing with the subframe to accomodate a GSXR1000K race seat (still needs a bit of tweaking as I dont like the bit's of subframe showing behind the shocks.. So I'll cut emd back and brace suitably).

I'v also dug out a set of 38mm GSXR750 carbs, an old 100mph suzuki speedo (as I intend to make the clocks/dash minimal (speedo and 3 idiot lights).

Once it's done/mot'd etc I'll probably flog it as fighters are not really my cup of tea (I like tinkering/building them rather than riding them).. and besides it's not a BMW!

update:

lost track of what I've done since I posted this.. needless to say a fair few things.. wheels have been blasted back to metal and painted black, tank/seat unit and front mudguard have had a few coats (hand painted) of British army landrover olive drab.. not the best job but it looks okay from 5 feet away. The std 32mm Keihen carbs have been replaced with 36mm Mikuni's from a GSXR with a change of jets to suit the open filters. The remus race exhuast's been moded slightly to bring it forward/tilt it more, fitted the original headlight but gone with just a speedo (from a old GS) and a couple of idiot lights.
Just got to cut some seat foam, fiddle with the carbs a bit and sort out an exhuats hanger and chain guard and I think she's ready for mot.
But.. I've decided she's not really for me (bad back/rock hard seat probably never a good idea in the first place) so as soon as she has an mot she'll be up for sale.. hopefully I'll cover my costs!

failed mot today on 2 tyres and the front brake hoses (bulging).. I think if I put 150 quid more into it I'll never get it back so I've put it up for sale as is on fleabay.. That'll teach me to buy something on a whim.
