Just been speaking to my likkle bruvver about Gwent Polices WEEKEND WORKSHOPS and must say that for £80 they sound like a bloody good weekend to me.

I did a Sunday afternoon one about 4 years ago, but the modern "workshops" are in a different league to what I went on. There's nothing in it for me - ok I may get a Bikesafe pen :D - but if anyone is looking to improve their riding, seriously you could do a lot worse than this. :thumb

Yeep, Did a mac a while back, very good on road improvement instruction, so thought, well why not, so booked onto the one in cardiff on 27/8th august, as recomended by pal, then find out they are run by rospa not police, so am wondering how much I will be talked at in class room ( you know, ooh er bikes are nasty DANGEROUS things why not try tiddly winks, its much SAFER!!!???)rather than ridden behind??? I am, I admit, rather agin "road safety" intuitevly (can't spell either!) as it seems to me those involved are somewhat "anal", so will be interested to see what sort of a cock rospa make of it....pity the polis are not running it, their bikers seems generally to talk the right kind of b******s or at least the type I can understand! still there is a bit about first aid at roadside, so that will be useful, hopefully to know about but never put into practice, God willing! :o

Bikesafe

I did this course at the end of June this year.
It run by servicing police motorcyclists.
Glassroom time was around 90 mins over the 2 days of the course.
Part of the class room session took in emergency medical assistance prcedures. That has moved on a lot since the 999 Micheal Burke course.
No such thing now as a recovery position and the lastest is that you may be asked by the emergency services phone operator to remove the helmet of a injured rider!
The rest of the time was spent riding and being assessed by a bikecop on a pan.
For those that have nothing to learn themselves it just might be informative to see what the rest of us might need to learn to be even safer.
