Why the fekk are they painted anyway??

The Adv OEM bars are just brushed steel.....a bit of wet and dry (if you were bothered about it) and they'd be back to original condition.

I know people seem to like these H&B bars but they really look pants as well IMHO.

PS If you really wanted to put anything around them either as a temporary measure to hide the damage or as a protector rolleyes: ), how about a couple of radiator up-pipe covers (basically just clip on plastic tubes) that you could spray silver?

My point exactly. Even if they were painted normally after a drop they'd probably look fine and you could juts whizz over them. Coated with this crap it looks like someones taken a pickaxe to them. Its just a daft idea.

If they made them of rubber perhaps your bike would bounce back up again, save you putting your back out lifting it up

Only if you have an unlucky drop Mike......

I've dumped mine lots, mainly off-road but also in carparks and getting the pig into and out of my back garden at least a dozen times.

The only time I've damaged the rocker cover was when I managed to drop her at exactly the right angle and distance from a kerb for it to hit the rocker cover.

I reckon you were unlucky and it's skewed your view of their effectiveness.

I thought of doing just what you thought of too, but then I got to thinking, this is a good solution for dumping the bike, but what if you low side it at slow speed, the rubber hose will prevent the HB bar from sliding, the rubber may grip on the surface and cause the bike to flip over and high side it..

I"m torn on what to do.. leave it as is on the off chance of a slow speed low side hit ... or cover it for the higher chance of dumping it..

I think it would just slide off. After all, it isn't really attached to the bike and is just slipped on. Remember the back side of it is slit lengthwise...
