Folks,

Went to the "Haggis Bash Classic Autojumble" at Lanark Market today with my neighbour Tom (in a Land Rover as I was looking for a generator).

Met up with Gordon and as usual we gravitated to the bike park.

There we bumped into 'Straypuss' (without his Vespa) and spotted a couple of likely 'Tosser' bikes parked up. I feel I should know the R1200GSA !

Oh yes . . Gordon has a tale to tell about the Top Box he found - and about the Triumph it came from ! :augie

Over to you Gordon.

(I didn't get a generator, but I did get a rebored barrel and piston for my Tiger Cub restoration project).

(I was out on my K1200GT on Saturday, so it wasn't an entirely 'bike free' weekend).

Bob

Thanks for the picture of the topbox with the Mojacar Rally and Andorran Splinter Group stickers. I still quite can't believe this, but in 1985, 6 of us who had been on the 1984 Mojacar Rally formed the Andorran Splinter Group and had 6 stickers made for the Rally. Over the years since the rally, I have lost touch with most of the folks and the topbox that appeared in Lanark today (along with the Craven panniers) came off a bike owned by a guy called Andy French from Staines in Middlesex. The odds of a topbox with only 1 of 6 stickers on it ever making an appearing in Lanark 22 years after a rally and me spotting it ???????? Off to by a Lotto ticket.

Cheers

Good to see a healthy GS turn out! Didn't realise that car/bike rallies had started up again - so early in the year.

Hi guys, he wanted £5k for that Trumpet and he hadn't even polished it! I used to love reading tales of Ken Cravens Mojacar rallies in MCS. I sold my cravens after 20 years at the Ayr classic show. No mention of the cool yellow 906 Paso for £1k and did you see the Y reg 93k miles R100RT for £575 ? I heard it running and it was sweet. I came away with a Tomaselli throttle and a tyre a fun day for £15 that's for parts, bacon butty and entrance..think I'll give Ingliston show a miss at £15 entrance! Athough I do have an invite to display a bike in the classics section.
