Has anyone ever fitted the Ring foglights from Halfords (£23.99) to a GS ?. Any good, what brackets, any wiring diagrams and how do I get my wife to stop moaning at me because I'm on the computer ????

If those are the little projector style foglights, I fitted them to my Wunderlich crash bars with some clamps from a chandlers (1" pipe clamps with cleats - didn't use cleat bits). Wiring is with one of Rob Farmers motoswitches so that the indicator cancel turns the lights on and off - fused supply from battery - all gubbins, including relay in fusebox under seat.

Very useful at filling in the gaps left by the pitiful dipped beam, bright enough to get my flashed by oncoming cars if they aren't adjusted properly.

AS for the wife, she probably wants to play with the computer, so why not buy one for her - any old cheap trash will do, 'cos she'll probably pour a drink into it.

Shug - still trying to get the Ribena outa the Tosh!

Get the ANGEL EYES version, loom goe straight on without any cutting except for the live feed for the relay and the three position switch can even be mounted in the left handlebar pod next to the original light switch. Did mine yesterday and going to do another for Martyn B on the weekend.

Will send pics if needed.

They're pretty good. I've got 2 sets , one for dipped, one for main. Don't really need the 2nd set, once the 1st set are on with dipped beam, the 2nd set don't make that much difference. MiGSel light bar, Rob Farmer Motoswitch.......job's a good'un

ring foglights

Do you get a relay and the associsted wiring supplied with these?

Lol

I have the Ring 'custom' foglights

I have them mounted on Wunderlich bars. The 'custom' is a very small rectangular lamp designed for spotty youths to fit to their Peugeot 106 fart-box.

The beam pattern is OK - enough to suplement the GS dipped beam, or to make your presence well and truly known when you are cutting through traffic.

Fitted useing a motoswitch which is very good, and comes with a relay and wiring.

First two bulbs blew within 2 weeks due to vibration coming through the crashbars. Now mounted on a small section of neoprene which seems to damp the vibrations enough to stop the bulbs blowing.

By the way....

...you could try some larger sections of neoprene to damp out the interference from your wife;)

I've got them.

Go to your local DIY shop, and look at the strips of aluminium dividers for kitchen worktops, you'll find they have a concave curve at the back which fits the lamp bracket perfectly, cut to size and fit under the beak below indicators, clean up nice as well, all powered by the Robswitch.

Mine's secured with the bolts that hols the beak on, lamos with nice round head nuts, looks a treat.

Careful the lamps don't leak though.

Hope this helps

andy, wouldn't mind seeing the pics you have.

has anyone fitted lights to H&B engine bars?

I have looked at the lights in halfords and they all seem a bit big.....:nenau

If that pm, was for me I cant access it.
Is this because I am a lowley local government employee who cant afford my 5 quid?

okay. Can I mail you from your website?

I will say that I am a bit dodgy on wiring them up. I know all the instructions look simple but I am colourblind. so a group of different coloured wires, to me - is just a bunch of wires.

Mail me here:- [email protected] or 07761 786828

There is nothing to wiring them up, especially when fitting Rob Motoswitch, as he supplies very comprehensive instructions.

My personnal views on Ring lights are that they are at the budget end of the lighting market. Not that there is anything wrong with them you understand, but just that they "may" not last as long as some of the other better brands currently on the market.

With regards to fitment, the key to fitting, like anything else, is to take yer time and think about what you are doing. With that in mind it really is that easy.

Cheers,

BTBR

I had a set of the ring lights on my bike untiill recently. They were prone to misting up, they are open to atmosphere, and one cracked as I rode into a bank of mist one night. The light is definatly not as good as the Hellas I have fitted now. The mounting brackets both ended up being secured by cable ties because the plastic split. I'd go for the Hellas they are in a different league for just a few quid more.
