BMW Diagnostics has identified 2 problems with the hall sensor, but I've not noticed any detriment to the running of the bike (would the R259 be counteracting it?).

Is this something I should worry about, or do I just ignore the diagnostics?

Thanks

L

if there is a fault with the Hall sensor then the engine wont be running properly.

why did you have it 'diagnosed' if the bike was running well?

If you set the 259 unit to Zero that basically shuts it off. Cant see that unit bringing up that fault imo.

I didn't ask for the check, the guy changing the tyres decided to check it out of the goodness of his heart (bless him).

What is this "Hall Sensor" I keep hearing about?:(

I have looked on EPC and can't find anything with that discription...

Were is it and what does it do??:nenau

It seems like its a comon problem so I makes sense for me to know about it.

This tyre man, would he happen to have a hall sensor for sale sitting on the shelf ??????

its the ignition pick up unit:thumb(jap bike talk):thumb2
the little black box,s with (usually) 2 wires were the points used to go on older bikes

however it looks nothing like a little black box (just to add to the confusion)

part no1 in the picture.

And although the hall sensor has two pickups and your bike has two cylinders, it isn't one for each cylinder. It's actually one pickup for the ignition and one for the injection using a wasted spark on the ignition and batch injection for the fuel.

God bless him indeed. Sounds like you were being sold the square root of nothing.

Believe it or not, the guy who did my tyres made no effort to sell me a hall sensor or any other part/service! Unbelievable I know, especially for Turkey! He did try resetting the fault and it didn't reset (I watched him do it, so unless he has some ultra fancy software that shows what he likes, I'm inclined to believe him).
