Having the hall sensor go down on my 1100 gs it has become clear this is very very common .
£139 from bmw ,my dealer who sold his on saturday but told me it will be re stocked as they sell quite a lot :mmmm .Found out on this site i can order the individual parts for less than a £10er ,but out of stock & on backorder ,
Called all the bmw breakers & told the go out as soon as they come in but have none @ the moment.
Just a word of advice 'for the last month or so i got the odd jolt as the bike missed a beat, but only maybe 4 times in total thinking back i recon this was the start :(

ok - ok - the 1100 has a fault - big deal - move along - nothing to see...............

It happens to 1150's also - it's an age thing, so expect to see lots of 1150 owners bleating in the not to distant future - and then the 1200 owners will be next in the queue :D

I you're planning ongoing outside western europe I'd take one. You are truly fekked without it - no road side bodge will get you going.

Wondering if I should take one on me trip....

Take one - i carry one with with me when on long trips.

Again, takes up no space, and you'll be back on the road within the hour, instead of being in the deep shite in the middle of nowhere.

You can't interchange the unit from 1100 to 1150 , the plug is different  good old BMW

I just bought my spare 1150 Hall sensor unit, which comes on the mounting plate for an easy swop, from James Sherlocks. It was £50 and arrived the next day :thumb

Thanks peeps - I'll get one.

It's not money wasted - if you use it, it'll be a godsend, if you don't, you can sell it for what you paid.

Unlike all the other parts people buy for their GS's, this part is useful.

It's a no brainer.

I found it really funny when mine went, pissing rain on the M20,my how I larfed.then it cured itself, and died again in france,in the middle of no where,I larfed even more then :(

Funny you mention that today, SPC are investigating mine today as they think this may the running rpoblems I am having with mine, seeing as the other bits they done last week only cured the problem for a few days.. :eek
Mines a 53 plate with just short of 27k on the clock now, although still waiting to see if that is the problem.

oh and 1200gs as a loan, sorry but prefer the 1150 :thumb

At least it's only about £40odd quid for the 1200's :)

Nothing to be smug about, Thats because they're made to price nowdays.

Which means the 1200 will be giving another problem in the not to distant future :D

I hope your not trying to suggest that the 1200 is prone to being problematic there Steppers!! You might upset people if you are..... :D
