Can anyone recommend any bar-muffs that are a good fit for an 800 with standard hand guards+spoilers.

i suffer terrible cold hands (i have mild raynaud's) and fancy trying a set this winter.

the Tucano variety that Val H on this forum sells fit the 800 - search the 800 twins forum and you'll find a bit of info. My mate Si has them on his and they work well.

there are choices ...

... depending on what you want: the large all-encompasing ones sold on here by Val, or the slightly more svelte option also offered by Tucano Urbano both of which are illustrated on this link.

I have used the neoprene ones (with bar end weights) with great success on my T-Max, but you would have to lose the handguards to fit them.

If you want to try a cheap option first, Oxford muffs are inexpensive and big enough to go over handguards. I use the same pair both on my GS and my off-road bikes (put them on the KTM last night ready for tomorrow)

cheers all:).

might try the oxford ones if they fit.
had oxford stuff before and it seems good stuff.

Scratch that. Decided to go for the Tucano Urbano's off Val.:)

Great bit of kit these. Easy to fit and no problem to use. (Although they can make moving the bike around when your not on it a bit awkward.)

They might look a bit odd, but i won't be taking these off any time soon.

Touratech screen next.....:augie

Interesting, I couldn't get the Tucano muffs to fit with the BMW handguards in place. Even with just the guard bars (plastic parts removed) it wasn't going to be a good fit.

Maybe I didn't try hard enough... :blast

unless you've ridden with the touratech screen on someone else's bike, I'd urge caution. I've been through 4 screens now and tbh, the OEM screen is about as good as any of them get (for me at 6'1"). I now use the MRA vario which is ok, but no better than the stock one. I would advise you to wait until there's a meet, try and go to it, and ask if someone else with whatever screen might let you ride their bike for a few mins to see the difference. No one has come up with the perfect screen for the 800 because you're sitting on it more than down into the bike like the 1200 etc. Just my thoughts in a bid to maybe save you some cash. :nenau

good choice on the muffs btw - there aren't any better and the oxford versions are crud!

Tucano do a few different models. the one's for sale on ebay listing the gs, are not really suitable for bike with handguards. i got mine off Val H off this site.

cheers for info on screen.
i just saw one on a bike on the touratech stand at NEC and thought it looked OK.

i just fancy a little less wind blast on the chest.

!

Wise words about the TT etc screens. On my 650 twin I've had the original, the BM 800 screen, BM 800 with TT spoiler and the TT tall screen. For me the TT gives the best protection against gusts of wind, but the airflow is right on the visor join / front vent so is quite noisy. Also, the airlow doesn't easily clear the visor of rain drops. The BM 800 screen is, IMO, a good compromise, and if it's gusty I add on the spoiler to increase protection, and take it off when it's warm. The 650 original screen looks pretty.

I got mine from Val H too. Didn't realise Tucano did different models (or didn't check, can't remember now :blast).

However I've been meaning to try and find more compact handguards than BMW's own for a while now, so taking those off was the first step... :D

i got a set just b4 we went to morocco (2 weeks ) just got back
to warm in the day for the muffs but very cold at night ended up carrying them most of the way but will say 1 night whilst freezing my but of in my sleeping bag i had a brain wave they fit snugly on my feet and kept me lovely and warm :-)
