I have just bought a new GS1200R ADVENTURE. When I am running straight it appears as though the left grip is slightly further forward than the right. The cross bar between the two doesn't look parallel with the bottom of the dash either. It isn't wey out but now that I have noticed it I cant help but keep noticing. It rides absolutely fine as far as I can tell. Should I be bothered by this? Can it even be adjusted? I have never owned a new bike before so I dont know what is reasonable to expect. I dont want to make an issue of it unnesessarily when it goes in for ist 600 mile service.:nenau

I have the same concerns with my (non-Adventure) 1200 GS. I think it's the instruments that aren't level rather than the bars. The trouble is, if you don't look* and try to go by the feel, it is very easy to convince yourself that either bar is further away.

If all the bolts are tight and it doesn't feel crooked, I'll bet it's the non-symetrical instruments that are causing the illusion.

*riding along with your eyes shut is NOT recommended. Just make an effort to look way into the distance and not down at the bars.

'They all do that Sir!' Get the dealer to straighten things up next time you go there or do it yourself if you have a torque wrench.

Straightened out in 5 mins flat at Bahnstormer, Alton. Easy when you know how I guess!

no experience of this on a 12, but i'd have thought it was the lower triple clamp needing loosening, straighten bars to wheel, re-tighten.

It was the instrument cluster on mine that was slightly off............we are a fussy lot!

mine has it too. the instrument cluster is a couple of degrees off and it has the effect of making the handlebars not look straight. i was hoping that the clocks by now would have vibrated back into place, but i think my dealer might fix it for me next time.....

I removed the instrument cluster (amazingly simple to do) on mine to try straighten it out but there is no adjustment that I could see.

To counter this I ride with my head tilted to one side!

Had the dealer check mine at last service cos I thought the left was nearer to me than the right. Said they measured it and put it in a jig and all was OK.
