Handlebar risers and cables

Looking at risers that go up (rather than up and back) what is the maximum height that can be used on a 2007 GS without alteration to the cables.

I have seen risers of 25mm, 35mm and 50mm.
 
If clutch/brake line length becomes an issue I understand you can disconnect a leg from the yoke and then reroute the line behind instead of in front of said leg

My 25mm risers (which just happen to in the For Sale section) needed no alterations whatever to my '07 GSA... any higher and I've heard that some bikes require modding, some don't... it seems to be a bit haphazard :nenau
If you're fairly tall, it makes a BIG difference, comfortwise... especially standing on the pegs :thumb
