My handlebars are now looking pretty tatty. Are there any alternatives to the magura x line as replacements for an 1100GS with heated grips?

If not, I'll strip the current ones out, and get them shot blasted and powder coated.

somebody on here had there OE bars blasted and powdercoated in silver - looked very effective and far cheaper than the alternative. I would only consider the magura if I could try out a set first on another 1100. but thats not likely. I dont like the idea of paying a couple of £100 with no guarantee of a marked improvement.

Definitely something I'll have done in a few years all being well.

this bike came up for sale on this site a couple of years ago.. I was quite impressed with the bars he had put on.

Magura Fat Bar conversion.
Adventure Workshop billet riser/setbacks.

watch out

I have done this when I modified mine to take GPS mount and the like.

Be careful when powder coating handle bars. The heat used in the process can damage the rubber anti vibration buffers hidden underneath the outer bar. You can strip them and remove them but again be careful as you CAN NOT buy replacements and you might damage them getting them off....... as I did. Had to resort to second hand ones from a bent set.

How did you managed to remove the anti vibration buffers? You had to cut the bent second hand handle bars in order to get it out?
