Anyone know how to interrogate XP to determine what hardware is fitted to the PC its on ?

Is there a bit of freeware that would do it ?

I need to send the spec to our software supplier to help them help us fix a problem ?

I'm no expert, as I'm sure you'll quickly gather, but if you click on the start button, then right-click 'My Computer' and left-click properties that should open a dialog box where you can see a list of options. By clicking the hardware tab then device manager you should be able to see what devices are fitted.

I think!!

XP comes with a tool called msinfo32 - execute it from the "run" box. Make sure that the "Components" field is highlighted in left hand box or you will get everyting and use the export option to write all the details of your system to a text file which you can email out.

This will tell them the hardware cpapabilities and driver details, IRQ etc.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Mark

belarc works though - cool - nice one nudie :thumb

sorry, i knew aida was temporarily unavailable from it's creators, but thought it was still available from my link.

it's the most complete system analysis prog i've seen.

Nope - home edition won't work on a network.....

Home can handle a network as long as its not on a domain - then it has probs authenticating and falls flat on its face.
