Whoa easy tiger no dealer has one the age I'm interested in , no point riding a brand new one when I'm looking at ten year old one is there !!!! , If someone said had one it was pile of crap I would be forewarned I'm looking at what's available in my price range :beerjug:

Get an XR1200, it is the Harley for those that don't like Harleys. It goes, has decent brakes and suspension (although it is a little over damped) and it handles and looks achingly cool - except when I'm on it:D. This was taken yesterday when me and some mates went out for a 120 mile bimble around Worcestershire and Shropshire.:clap

Anyone ridden v rod ?

Yes thanks .......... :beerjug:

On the up side they are bloody quick, they're also quite cheap.

On the downside they are a completely different riding experience to an air-cooled bike, and some people will tell you they aren't a real HD.

You need to ride one and make up your own mind but they aren't a cheap entry to the 'normal' HD experience, they're something completely different.

Thanks Mutley I have heard it said they are not proper Harley :friday

I do like those what's the ride like :beerjug:

Massive torque in the engine, best to keep it in the 2-4k rev range, roll on overtakes are just effortless. Sunday was my first significant ride on it since I bought it earlier this year so I am still gelling with the bike. I need to fiddle with the suspension damping as it seems a little harsh at the moment, need to soften the damping up. It is a whole load of fun though and I had a big grin on my chops every second of the ride.

Forgot to add that it also has the added bonus of not having any chrome to clean and polish......result:P

Anyone ridden v rod ?

I was in USA in 2001 when they first came out, I saw it in the mags,....and I just HAD to have one. As soon as I got back to the UK I sold just about everything that I owned (including my mint 1340 FXR) and ordered a V-Rod. Mine arrived in June 2002 and I can still remember just staring at it sat in my garage...

Pure 'Dan Dare'...bloody great fun !!....Fast, reliable (NOTHING went wrong with mine) handled OK for what it was, and a lot easier to keep clean than you might think. It definitely had a modernish feel to it...very different to Harleys of the day.

Negatives...Small fuel tank or high fuel consumption (honestly can't remember which) I always seemed to be stopping for fuel. Daft ignition key (like those used on disc locks) and a crap key position (down by your right leg)....Dead Dead Dead easy to drop the keys down behind the (red hot) exhaust !!!...On that subject it always seemed to run hot. It had a mega complex alarm (for 2002) which seemed to have numerous ways of operating....the alarm itself had a great big thick book of instructions.

Overall, I really liked it...great fun and went like the clappers. The attention it got eventually did my head in.

I don't want another one but I wish I still had THAT one. It was a first model VRSCA which I think still looks way better than any of the later models......:)
