Gave the Harpic trick ago today. Followed up with a bit of polish.

Pretty impressive!

Shame it doesn't last

if only there was a way to seal them once done

I must admit I was sceptical having used Optiglanz to great effect.

Saw some in the supermarket and thought i'd give it a go on a link pipe I had lying around. Ripped it on with my finger, left it 2 minutes, rubbed it again with my finger, rinsed it off .... bloody amazing!!

I used Peek metal polish on my ST's headers for the first time about 7/800 miles ago. I only bought it as I found 3 tubes for £10 delivered on fleabay, although I'd seen a fair few decent reviews of it. Bloody marvelous stuff! The shine has lasted way, way longer than anything else I've tried, and it didn't seem to be such hard work as Autosol and the like. Might be worth using it after the Harpic treatment, perhaps there's something in it that similar stuff hasn't got? :nenau

Pete

Are those different headers to mine then? my bike is a 58 Adv. and the headers look like they won't shine, I tried solvol on a bit and no difference. ...

They look the same as mine. Stainless steel. Although they will clean up with Harpic they need to be polished to a shine and they turn back to a golden brown when used again.

Hi Newman7096 ... So you brushed on neet harpic and left for ?? a certain amount of time, wiped off and then used a power drill and metal polish ?
Just getting my facts together for a weekend lying on the garage floor

Harpic on for 5 to 10 mins. And then endow grease and some autosol to polish.

My 2008 pipes are chromed, trouble is they have been through too many winters and are now corroded instead of looking blue.
