Has anyone got a spare 'security' key for zumo 550 cradle that they could send me....

securing it yesterday, one of the two points on the key snapped off and now im unable to get the zumo off the cradle

Can anyone help please?

yeah i have one ( i think), send me your address again and ill pop it in the post in the morning ............... or if u want an near instant solution get a security bit set from halfrauds or a motor factor as the bit is in there and then get a thumb screw from migsel - saves all the pissing about.

I made one when I lost my original one, but as already mentioned the replacement security screw from a fellow tosser on the site is by far the best solution.

If you phone Garmin, you will find them very helpful indeed.

They don't offer it on their shop, for obvious security reasons (obvious once they explained to me anyway).

But customer services will send you a replacement if you tell them your serial number to prove you're a pukka punter.

I know you might struggle to do that, as you can't see the serial number while it's in the cradle, but I'm sure if you explain what happened they'll find some way to establish your credentials

Find a tiny flat blade screwdriver (something from a Christmas cracker is ideal), then file a notch in the centre of the blade. A small triangular section needle file is good for this. Keep filing till it fits the security screw

I used to use my keys until I got really hacked off with doing that and just removed the screw permanently.

I've got a touratech lockable holder now anyway and the zumo never leaves the bike anymore (apart from when I visit our Liverpool office).
