got my bits today for the rt,so i thought ill bung it back together, then i noticed where i had painted the foot rest hangars thet were a little thin on paint.
so as i didnt have any smoothrite left ,i thought i just touch it up with some gloss black(now the smug ones among you who are allready laughing,i didnt know).
so i lightly sprayed the bits i missed, turned to the bench ,to start laying out the bits ,and by the time i turned round ,the gloss black had reacted with the hammerite ,and was all bubbling up .
no i didnt know it would do this .
anyway ,i got the swing arm partially installed ,and when the rest is dry ill ,rub it down ,and just hand paint it .
to say im pissed of ,is an understatement, anywhere i wont be doing any more for the next few days ,as ive just sliced my thumb open ,on the knives ive just sharpened (its throbbing and it hurts) ,in fact have two laughs at my expense ........happy days ..JD

Bit of useful info

If you look at the hammerite tin and it is dated post 2006 it probably wont react, Paint after that date also doesnt need the long curing time before repainting.

Useful info direct from hammerite:thumb2

What I've been told - You put salt on chips. not the other way around

Synthetic onto cellulose paints is ok, cellulose onto synthetic, it reacts
