Have I been overcharged?

Work this one out, head maintainance technician (that would be a mechanic) at the local VW dealer gets the grand total of £8.57 per hour in wages. The dealership charges customers £98 per hour for labour charges !

No wonder the local independant vag garage which charges £25 per hour has weeks worth of pre booked work .

Thats not really the full story, the cost of employing someone has to be taken into account, holidays, training, red tape compliance, pensions, tax, then add to that the local costs like rates, electricity, admin staff, telephones, parts management, special diagnostic equipment, profit, ok £98 would seem very steep, but £25 would suggest that they are skimping on something, but i would expect it to be around £60- £70

Last year I paid the grand total of £85 to have the various jobs done on my bike that frankly I'm too lazy to d.i.y. Outside on the patio. (no garage)

Higher than usual because I paid for a tank (and interior fitments + 5L of fresh fuel) to be swapped over.

all in all about 3 hrs for the independent chap I use and will continue to use. He cracks on with it. And I make him a cuppa at the finish.

Last time I approached the local dealership they told me 'Yes can fit you in. In about 6 weeks' - marvelous eh?

btw - I do all fluids/filters/plugs plus brakes etc myself. Oil @ 3-5k. gb/fd yearly and so on.
