Anyone got any ideas on these carby vent tubes on my 100GS? They exit near the top frame tube. Not seen this mod before. Googled heaps but couldn't find anything similar. What do you reckon good, bad, unnecessary?

Here's another couple of vent changes that make some sense -

The good oil is that these vent tubes stop water entering the float bowls on water crossings. With the gearbox and final drive also venitng under the seat I own a virtual submarine :green gri

Neat. All you need to do now is to get those damned spark plugs a bit higher up too. Hey, why not convert it to diesel:hammer

Have a look at the postings of Prutser on advrider, he's done some work on waterproofing for crossings and posted stuff there. I I think the airbox is the big limitation for water crossings and people have tried snorkels etc but run to problems with power and airflow. Surprisingly the sparks don't seem to be the main issue for him, maybe clean clear mountain streams have purer water that will have less of the impurities that can conduct electricity.

From what I've read the snorkels are high water mark, if it's deeper than that, turn around :nono after all that's why we have bridges :D

Diesel??........... Turbo diesel ? Hmmmmmmmm?:thumby:
