He he he he he he.

Hmm
Theres a set of wheels like that on eblag at the mo....
I'm tempted - even on enduro tyres and gearing mines a hoot on road so with them on it will be awsome!

Love the graphics GB. :thumb2

But I have a problem :( only done 60 miles since fitting them and found that the chain is taking bits out of the sidewall of the tyre.
On dirt tyres that are wider no problem, and the gold wheels came from another DRZ that had done about 1500 miles without any damage. Everything looks ok, chain run is straight and it rides without a bias to either side. Its on Conti SM 150/60/R17. From the debris on the swinging arm, it looks like the top run of the chain. :nenau

Cracking little bike you have there! I had a set of Suzuki SM wheels and know what you mean. Have you changed the gearing at all?

Yup, Its a good un Roger. Thanks for parting with it.

The gearing is a bit of a try it and see at the mo. I want to be able to easily swap the wheels for on and off roading. On/off road chains ordered from Greg ;) So I have put on a smaller front sprocket and the original 44 tooth rear for off road, which so far is perfect. And for the new road wheels I am trying a 40 tooth with the smaller front. I think its still geared to low as I can drop into top at about 30 mph. Perhaps a 38/36 tooth will do the job.

Anyways I was having a great time till I found the chain/tyre contact. Will let you know how I get on.

I take you've found thumpertalk.com? Lot of discussion over tyre sizes. I have a feeling that 140 is recommended for s or E models, the SM model has a different swing arm and runs 150's although I can't see how this would allow a bigger tyre as the chain run will be the same?? Check the wheel offset and consider dishing the wheel over to the right (loosen LH spokes by 1 turn, tighten RH spokes by 1 turn.)

I currently run 13/44 which is just lower than the E's 14/47 My plan for gearing is to run a 15 on the front and have a 50 on the back on my trail wheels and a 38 on the road wheel. I think this will need two chains but at Gregs prices this is not a problem!

i've had the tyre rub problem with mine too for about 4 years now. some do it some dont simple as that. ive tried allsorts trying to sort it.

I'm just about to try the 2007 SM chain gaurd as it has a slight modification stopping this problem..... some minor mods will be required i'll let you know how i get on......

PM me if you wanna chat about the DRZ i've got about 6 years of history with mine and have researched shed loads of info. i'll give you my mobile number.
