Leaving tomorrow for home. Riding up from the Tarn et Garonne .catching a train on Sunday afternoon about 2ish.
I need to be up around the Chartres area Saturday eve, and wondered if anyone knows of a reasonable place to recommend to stay in the area. Preferably near food/beer! Have stayed in Chartres itself a few times so am looking for somewhere different. Need to be about 3 hrs from Calais as we have another 4 hrs to do on the other side, and she starts moaning if we do more than about 7 hours.

I'm in Chartres Saturday evening, in the city for the Fete de Lumieres! How can you possibly turn down such an evening's entertainment?

(We're also riding home Sunday, but taking a scenic route. No pressure to be in Calais in 3 hours, as my ride home from the Channel takes me ...ooh.... about five minutes. )

I can't offer any recommendatiosn for where to stay but if you don't get anywhere better, at least there is something to do in Chartres on Saturday evening.
