I have checked the Font, but all I found were some old 2p pieces and one or two 20p pieces. Some cheats had thrown in their old euros and some rupees too, but nowhere could I find a chitty on how to make the headlight point a bit further to the LEFT.

I have fiddled the screws to raise it up a bit, whihc it did, but I have also dragged it left just a touch. Going round right handers is great, but tipping into lefthanders just illuminates the trees and wakes the pigeons from their roosts (should have a gun with me!) Oncoming drivers don't like it too much either - bu the thing is, the range down the road is ideal, I just want to pull it back to my side of the orad a touch.

So which screw is it please good folks - the lower one on the outside? Or, according to haynes (and the handbook) there is a set of screws hidden in the depths of the cluster under the clocks somewhere. Only they don't tell you where, just to go to a dealer and empty your wallet.:D

Mucho grassy arse.

My handbook has instructions for adjusting the beam for LHD or RHD. Involves taking the screen and instrument cover off, loosening a screw or two then twisting the headlight lens. (Was very stuck on mine).

I presume you've already seen this and it's probably not quite what you're after if you just want to aim the lens left a bit, but it did change the beam in all sorts of ways. Did you try it?

What he says but with a lot more wriggling - can this really be right? - If I apply any more pressure that flimsy plastic is going to break - Do I push it in or pull it out? - Which way do I twist it? - Should I use some WD40? - if so where?- is there another screw I missed?- if so where? - What just happened then? - I wonder if it will be easier the second time?:comfort

Thanks chaps, but that is the same as I have. It doesn't say where these screws are though - nor which is for the high beam. Low beam is ok, it is just the high beam. I used the screws on the front of the cowling - but they work together, maybe it is just a case of jiggling the two together.

I'll have another play today.

The two lights are mounted in a plastic subframe and the frame adjusts as a whole. You can't adjust one without the other as far as I know - the screws the instructions refer to are the ones on the front.

I guess anything's possible, though - if you remove the headlight frame (which I had to do to unstick the dip beam to rotate it for a Euro trip - bu**er of a job as others have said) and use shims or something to change the way the dip beam sits in the frame that might work. But you have to wonder why you have this problem in the first place when no-one else does - is there something wrong with the reflector?

right, took the screen and cowl off so I could see what was going on.

The screw set in the hole to the throttle side of the cowl, high up, alters the throw of the main beam from left to right. Clockwise drags the light to the RIGHT

The other screw, situated low down between the two lights on the front sets the height of the throw. Clockwise drags it DOWN.

If you just want to bring your main light up, to increase range, just use the screw between the lights and turn it anticlockwise - half a turn is enough at a go. It is quite a coarse thread.

Hope this is of some use to someone. My headlight is now pointing somewhere near Cheshire, I would think! When it is dark I will go out, armed with a screwdriver, no screen no cowl and get it set up just right. If I get pulled and done for attempted burglery, will someone post my bail please?:P

Don't forget there is a second screw at the bottom of the head light this can be left loose but the light unit is tight move iot from side to side as it does help a bit.
dave gs,

Went out last night and adjusted the main beam. Left all the gubbins off and rode to a nice straight piece of road, put the bike on the stand and fiddled the screws until the beam pointed straight down my side of the road. Checked it by jumping on and sitting on it. Riding home, PERFECT. the dip is fine and the main lights up the road for 200 yards ahead without pointing at the pigeons in the trees on the opposite side. They can get a good nights roost now!
