As far as I can see I have 2 type options - A wire mesh or a polycarbonate.

I think the wire mesh looks the best but it's nearly twice the price & although the advertising says 'can withstand even large stones' I'm not convinced it will stop small stones!

What do you guys think of each type?

Edit: I see this has been asked before & I may have posted this in the wrong section.
I have tried to delete this post but being a 'user' I don't have that 'privilege'.

Wire mesh, amost pointless as I'm certain a stone that would fit through the holes will trash the headlight plastic :( If it stops the stone then what about the rest of the bike if there's more than one stone of that size

The acrylic one I have does give a bit of light bounce back, but during the day it helps confirm the headlight is still working

Metal = Charley / Euan style, must wear the Ralle 2, with gold braid.

Plastic = Cares more about the function than style, can wear a Rallye jacket if they want.

All above assuming you spend most time on what are called "roads" in the UK.

I've just ordered a TT plastic guard and ant-glare thingy as a set.
I had just finnished a two day dirt track weekend with all sorts bieng thrown at the bike, when on a nice smoothe French autoroute I get a nice hole in the headlight. That'll be £230ish then!.
The plastic guard on its own is £30 odd and with the ant-glare thingy is £50ish, I whish I got one before....
