I was under the impression that Twin Spark Dakars had a flat-dip headlight and were therefore the same for both UK and European use, however, I've just found a website that is showing different numbers for left and right dipped lights. They are showing Cointinental spec. left-dip as LIJ91001 and UK spec. right dip as LIJ91002.

Can any one shed any light on this, as I am shortly going to attempt to register '05 and '07 bikes in France (one for me and one for my wife), and would like to know what I'm talking about if I have to get a letter from the local BMW dealer to say that the bikes are okay for French roads? I already have COCs, in French, for the bikes, but it does say that the bikes were supplied for the UK, which may cause a problem. Luckily I have insurance on the UK plates for a short period, so I've got a while to sort it out.

Cheers

Point the bike at a wall or garage door.... headlight on and look at the pattern the kick up of uk headlights would be on left and should be easy to see.

The dip on both bikes appears to be up and down, however, it's the fact that Moto-Works show different numbers for left and right dip lamps on a twin spark, that is confusing me. Maybe I will give them a ring and see if they can clarify the situation to this ex-pat.
