For those of us without the luxurey of heated grips  I was bought some heated gloves for Christmas... :clap

http://www.net-biker.co.uk/acatalog/Heated_Gloves_Grips.html

Now my problem being that the only possible place i can see to connect them would be below the headstock on the right hand side where there are two three point connectors.

Oh.. its an 1150GS on a T plate by the way if that helps...

One connector has brown/black/green wires to it, the other connector just has a black,grey/ and what looks like a light grey or pale blue wire going into it. I need to know what these connect to as I dont want to tamper with something major.! I have tested the one with three wires and it would seem appropriate as it turns on and off with the ignition... but what is it... :nenau

I look forward to some help as my fingers are flippin freezin on my commute to work, even with my bar muffs on... I am a girl remember, so try and keep it simple please...

Cheers Sue...

Stick you hands in your pockets :D

Cheers for that pearl of wisdom Gary :D

...maybe I should buy some sort of adaptor and just plug them into the 12v socket on the side... do they sell adaptors at Wilkos' :nenau

I dooo need help...

Go to your local John Deere tractor shop and buy the accessory socket & plug - these are compatible with the BMW plugs. Wire the socket, with an inline fuse, directly from the battery and put in the beak just in front of the tank / just behind the dashboard. If you don't have a John Deere place nearby then find a caravan dealer they do the same thing. I use this same setup to power my heated jacket then when I get home I use the accessory socket to plug in the Optimate.

Male Plug RE11344
Female Socket MG82002966 or AL25073

I see the kit has a wiring loom with it... if it has a fuse built in-line on the loom why not connect it straight to the battery?... until you are confident or you can get a kind volunteer from the site to sort you out.....(que innuendos) :D
does it tell you how much power the gloves use ?
you could get someone to switch them via a relay off some other bike circuit which would be best

to be honest it's hard to know what to do until you see the length of the cabling it has when fitted to where you plug the gloves in.

Sorry about my first reply.. i thought there would be a flood of proper advice after me :D so i went for the cheap joke instead ;)

How bulky are they to wear under normal gloves?
They seem ok... they'll probably feel like sasauge fingers for a while but I'm sure I'll get used to it... can't be any worse than my belstaf leather gauntlets  :D

Any one else would have sweaty palms! :D

Just to say... many thanks for all your helpfull comments and especially to Sherpa for fitting my heated gloves for me.. and on a Sunday morning what a star... :thumb

Couldn't resist a bit of a blast to try them out..they have two connectors one which is a warmer setting than the other.. I soon found out why there are two settings when after doing a few comfortably toasty miles on twisty B roads, I then thought I'd see how they do for a couple of motorway miles while still on the hot setting... put it this way if your doing a long stint on the monotonous M1 I'd recommend the lower heat setting.. apart from that they were great... :D

Decided to solder the connection into existing wires that turn on and off with the ignition... so many thanks for the advice on the tractor accessories but that means I'll be able to get a heated jacket now and plug that into the still spare socket...

Cheers again from one happy gal.... :thumb
