Hi, could anybody recommend the best place to buy the filament for my 1150gs grips? its just the filament that's gone on the left and if i can splice new one into the existing wiring instead of installing a retro fitted switch that would be my preferred option. seen a few on ebay but i don't want to buy before i'm 100% sure what to get :nenau

heer's the link below for the ones on e bay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-3W-Mo...18&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=10&sd=161014517604&

I would doubt the ones ypou listed were man enough, it states they are 3 watts which is no where near enough heat.

The Heat Demon from Symtec Heated Grip Kit that Andy B suggested are 36 watt and should be about right. I suppose they Ebay one might have been listed incorrectly so worth a check with the seller.

You may wish to get a replacement BMW one for about £30 on ebay,

Grips are controlled in differing ways. Some use 2 wires and an in line resistor to reduce heat on low setting, certainly the early BMW ones did, though not sure what they use on the GS..
Some use 2 wires and make use of an electronic "chopping" circuit to adjust the heat.
The three wire ones use a switch to heat part or all of the element to give 2 stage heating. (Andy B suggestion uses this type)

"Andrewh" did you use the BMW switch?

Dave.

No, used the switch supplied with the units, Jono at ABW fit them.

They are the 2 stage element type, with a hi / lo switch.

can you pop a link up for the bmw made one you mentioned from e bay? cant seem to locate it. i cant deal with the idea of having a dead button on my handle bars (the old OCD kicking in hard when i think about it)

cheers
