Apologies if this has been covered before...

Bit parky riding into work this morning so heated grips on high, riding on constant throttle for a few mins, take hand off throttle and.....throttle stays open.

Grips off to cool, try again and throttle returns as normal...

Tried a few times and every time the same: grips on, throttle sticks.

Obvious answer is that the grip expands and catches on the switch body but the clearance doesnt seeem that tight and I doubt the rubber would expand that much.

Now whats that all about?

Pretty common........my last 1150gs did it, this one doesn't....

Had the same problem. I put a small washer between the bar-end weight and the handlebar and it solved the problem.

It appears that there is only a tiny clearance between the bar-end weight and the twist grip . With the heat generated from the grips on a cold day the handlebars and twist-grip mechanism seem to expand/contract causing them to touch.

Thanks Fellas

Mel - noticed you are in Bridgnorth: my Dad lives in Arley - nice area, always seem to be loads of bikers about..

Bridgnorth is the gateway to Wales for a lot of Midlanders, and it's just about far enough for the Wolverhampton Harley riders to have a day trip (about 12 miles) :D

There's also the Wheel-of-Worfield pub, which is a popular Wednesday evening bikers meet during the summer. There are 1000 plus bikes some weeks. There's a big police presence though with unmarked bikes and cars lurking everywhere.

Oddly though I only live 2 miles away and I've only ever driven past in the car and never stopped!

Nick - u sorted on this one now?

Had the same with my 650 and like everyone else looked for friction between the twist grip and the switch housing but the problem is, as stated, at the other end where an extra washer between the twist grip and the end weight/bar cover will sort.

Have fun! Tim
