Heated jackets

Have you looked at Warm & Safe yet?

They have a nicer finish and several benefits over the Gerbing gear.

Heated & fleece lined collar:

Sleeves heated right down to the wrist.
Zipped pockets with glove plugs.

And they are available from a fellow tosser's webshop :augie

£25 for the kit ( actually £22 when i bought mine 2 years ago). :nenau used in a doublelined fleece i already owned, where can you get a pre made for the samemoney ?? - Plus you can put the heat where YOU want/need it, not where a manufacture decides.

I bought my kit after my 3rd BWM waistcoat failed and I read Septoe's thread on it.

I've worn a Gerbing jacket but my home made fleece waistcoat is far better IMO....it heats up almost instantly, and as Neil said, you design where the heat goes so it's made to suit you.......I have a long back and my kidneys tend to get cold in the winter on a bike, so I have a triple loop around my lower back area.
I then looped several times around the front of the chest to keep the areas hit by the wind warm, and several loops around the high neck of the fleece to keep the neck warm and stop nasty cold draughts....superb!!

You do have to be slightly careful- I have to wear a layer inbetween it and my skin 'cos it does get rather warm.......but second to my 'Stich, the best bit of bike kit I've ever bought :thumb2

May I refer you to post #3? :thumb

Your having a laugh :D

How many batteries do you need to carry if, like me, you rode down through france and spain in december/january 3 days down, 3 days up .

Plus how much are the batteries going to cost you- what a twat. :D:augie

Yes I am, at your inability to read a simple item description :D. Post #3 states that the jacket "runs on batteries or 12v so you need a plug too."

Now who's the twat? :D:augie

I only look at the pictures :D

Coming to the end of my thirties...

.........getting too old for the cold so;

Just ordered a Widder electric vest, coiled cable and controller and battery connection lead. All 3 items totalled to $235.00 , so approx £113GBP.

They should arrive in the country on Sat 22nd just in time for a pre xmas rideout.

Not a bad deal I thought:thumb

Vote here for Chilli. Had it for years. Totally reliable, good range of control from off to too d**n hot. Not too bulky.

heated jackets.

Get a gerbing full jacket, brilliant with the seperate controller, used mine in artic conditions and it really does wrm the trunk of the body which also warms the hands and legs. Never had it up full cause it gets too hot!. Problem, dont fit the controller in a "vunerable position" i.e. on the "dash" as I did on my 1150. hit a dog, flipped the bike and the knob broke off!. Not reparable as all moulded in solid resin. So, further riding in the cold any one got a spare for sale"?.

Is this the one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...y.com:80/?from=R40&satitle=120185791829&fvi=1 as I'm thinking of getting one as well. Not much difference in the price :) ones over in Belgium are a bit nearer and less tax likely here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....om=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=350001013181&fvi=1

Another vote for the Gerbing jacket. :thumb2

Feels like a cheap nylon bomber jacket (should have 'Hawkwind on Tour - 1975' on the back) but the way it works is amazing. Warms the whole of your torso, arms and even around your neck! Get a controller though - otherwise you'll be far too hot. Sorting all the wires out is a bit of a pain - I just stuff them and the controller in a jacket pocket.
I certainly don't need the thermal liner in my jacket when I'm wearing one of these.

They saw you coming I bought a system two last year with the digital thermostat / coiled lead / bmw plug for $119 US! and I love it. Only thing I must remember is not to turn it on max as it trips the canbus. I can have it turned up to about four fifths but then it gets too hot! Great bit of kit with the big collar.:thumb

Hi Jon, would you mind sharing with us where you obtained this great deal? :thumb:thumb:thumb

AScycles.com keep sending me out emails with their 'deal' of the month - most of no interest but they sent a Widder offer out last year which I had to go for. I think they made a mistake because the controller they sent me was the expensive digital one which is listed at more that I paid for the controller with the vest!

They sold me the wrong size of vest (too small) so I contacted Widder direct who sent me a replacement..........problem is I have a bit of a tummy which means I have to have a chest size a couple of sizes too big so I get a warm tummy but a cool chest. I think I am going to try an aerostich vest with my new suit order and sell the Widder on ebay............I should have bought one of these heated vests years ago.........fantastic!
