To my special out for her maiden voyage today...clocked up 100 miles. Everything tickity boo:JB......just one little gripe.......a heavy to use clutch lever !

Fitted new clutch cable and lubed the roller bearing on the clutch operating arm......but clutch operation still far to heavy. Changes gear etc etc 100%..just tiring on my delicate hand:ymca

It may be the thrust bearing needs lubing or the clutch pushrod needs a coat of grease ....so....in my older age I cannot remember if I can take out the thrust bearing ( and hopefully the clutch pushrod ) without removing the swingarm:nenau

Anyone done this recently ?

Cheers Kenny

Yo Kenny looks sweet!
Maybe have a check of the lever in the perch. Sometimes the bushing in the lever gets egg shaped and or dry and needs a bit of litheum grease. Made a world of a difference for me on my old '92GS. Definately a new cable will help, and route the cable with the fewest bends if possible.

It did,nt bother me that much Kenny,I used to ride an old Bonnie .Bikes looking sweet ,looks like she,s got a good Daddy now.:tears

Big Jets, screen is good...but tad noisey...when I placed my hand above the screen..noise went !! So needs to be lowered to maybe stop the buffeting
( it is at the maximum at the moment )...but 100 miles of G/S luxury is not to be scoffed at:thumb2

Yup...Ponderosa:)

I'll strip off tomorrow :ymca ( the clutch gumminzes ) and maybe, just maybe some grease on the thrust bearing may sort it:). Handlebar lever / pivot have been well greased are are in fine fettle and smooth .

Would love some lower footrests on her though ... any ideas?

I'm ignoring Rob for now with that sizeist remark ......:P

T other side at the Ponderosa...not many bikes there..one 1200GS ( hope he got back home:D ) and a few Jap crap. Guy near me had turned on the bike immobilizer and then realised the alarm fob was with his house keys...still in the front door of his house in Abergele !!!

OK..stripped, cleaned and lubed everything other than the actual clutch pushrod tube.....and believe me it is a t**t of a job unless you are a gynacologist :eek!!! Make sure you have sent the wife and kids away before you attempt this with the swinarm in place..oh and keep the dog tethered nearby for venting frustration ;)!!!

Didn't make a h'peth of difference when I put it all back together again :tears
So, ordered new stretch bolts and I'll whizz the back end and gearbox off next week.:)

Pulled the clutch in with one finger on my blue g/s but needs all four fingers and a grunt to pull the clutch on the g/s pd !!

Strange isn't it? They get paid usually by bank transfer or cash so you don't have paypal protection, but they don't want to let the bits out of the fatherland
