I am just in the process of trading in a Jap cruiser and a Varadero for a low mileage GSA. The Varadero is tall as some of you may know. The GSA is a bit taller but a little lighter. Is the height thing an issue?, I mean do I need to borrow Elton Johns cast off platforms?!!

Any advice/experiences gladly accepted

Thanks, Simon

Depends how long your legs are!

I find it can be a stretch to get on or off and you need to be aware of the camber when stopping but with practice it's not a problem:thumb2

if its a problem... have the seat lowered. it really is as easy as that. seems to me a far better solution than messing about with the suspension etc.

Chap with an 1150GSA has done exactly this - had the seat lowered and his comfort levels improved. plus a seat thats 'different' - maybe not to everyones taste - but who cares about that. the bike is now 'just right'

Ive owned two Varaderos and now own a 1200GS, if youre ok with the V you should be ok with the GSA but it is taller, i have rode a GSA.

As posted above you may struggle on cambers but a lowered seat will help, ride the GSA and see what you think.

I managed to raise my GS, to be more comfy. But then I'm 6'4" with unfeasibly long legs.

You don't mention how tall you are, or your inside leg measurement. Throw these at us and we'll tell you if it suits you sir. Or tell you how to make it suit you sir.

No unfortunately its not ironic in the "Little John" vein!

I'm 6 foot with a 31 inch inside leg. (not telling you my waist measurement!!)

Cheers, Simon

C'mon, i've been free with some of my vital statistics, please be free with the advice!!

I reckon you will be fine on standard settings etc.

I am 5 foot 9 with 29/30 inside leg (depends on who makes the jeans!) and have GSA set at normal settings.

In fact, sometimes I thing the seat to footpeg ratio is a bit tight as I get stiff knees after a couple of hours, so maybe I need to think about putting seat on high setting.

You'll ave to try one really and see how you get on, but IMHO you've nothing to worry about..

No worries, went over to see the bike I've already bought again( impetuous eh!), got my leg over no problem!!

I am 5' 6" ands have an insdie leg of 29" and ride A HP2 Enduro..... makes a GSA look like a scooter...... have no problems just slide off the seat a little!!

Sat on a GSA cant see you will Have any problems

You could either fit the factory lower seat and/or fit standard 1150 shocks and mainstand.

Don't Worry you'll be fine

I am shorter than you and cope OK with a standard 07 GS. If you still have doubts check out this thead. I doubt very much that your a££e is as short (or as pretty:D) as hers. She handled that GSA with some style.

Regards,

Path.
