"We are very sad to announce that due to restructuring Hein Gericke have decided to close their Glasgow store. All the staff from Hein Gericke Glasgow would like to thank our customers and we are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience"

We used to have Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow - now there's none!

"I'm still using an HG Master V suit which is superb for our NW weather year round."
Ditto
top quality gear.

Yes folks it's true. Had a visit from the UK manager on Tuesday and he informed us that Hein Gericke Retail UK Ltd was going into voluntary liquidation and we were all out of a job. The good news is that I had a meeting with the owner of Infinity Motorcycles and they want to take over the premises. They have also agreed to take all of us on so we still have jobs. Really looking forward to it
It will be nice to have all the brands we keep being asked for. Dainese, Shoei, Schuberth etc.
We could re open as early as next Saturday perhaps.
Watch this space.
Cheers
Kev

Hope it all goes well for you all. JJH

Is part of the problem that the HG gear is so good?

Bikers buy clothing and it lasts for several years so there are few repeat sales. It's not as if we are regularly updating our gear due to changes in fashion, black bike clothing doesn't alter much. The amount of members in our club who are using HG stuff they bought years ago when the local shop was open is remarkable and few have had to replace anything. My own HG mid range gear is only now beginning to show signs of wear after 5 years of very regular use.

The absence of HG leaves a big gap in the market in the North East

The problem was that they opened a shop and didn't support or promote it
No communication, no support from Germany for the shop and no effective marketing. I was still getting people in from the local area as late as last week unaware that we had reopened in Glasgow. I had a good team of staff in the shop but without the support from head office and a lack of key products, we were always going to struggle.
Looking forward to working for Infinity. Seem like a really tuned in professional company and they carry a brilliant range of products. Not having to translate a German till system will be a relief I can tell you.
Log on to the infinity website and join the mailing list. That way we can let you know about opening dates and special offers etc.

Another owner of a Master V suit. Had to have the main Gore zip replaced after a very dusty trip but otherwise the suit is in pretty good order. As it's now relegated to long trips with foul weather expectations by a 'Stich it may last forever.

Hope all goes well with infinity I was impressed with their shop in York . I'm glad I saw this as it saved me a 200 mile round trip

Infinity

Guys,
Infinity is now open. Oodles of brilliant gear, Rukka , Schuberth, Dainese etc.
Still setting stuff up a getting used to all the new brands but we are open for business. Drop by and check us out.

Have you any deals on short waterproof boots size 11. JJH[/QUOTE
Hi there,
I'm not really in the shop at the moment as I am off sick at the moment. If you go on the infinity website and browse their boot section you will get a good idea of what they do. If you see something you like call the shop on 0141 332 5677 and check if it's in stock.
Cheers

i recently visited Smartriders in Christchurch who have also been taken over by Infinity, albeit in different circumstances, Chris and his team seemed happy about the changes (I suppose they would be)

Good stocks of gear, good pricing but with the service we got from Smartriders, seems like a win win.

Hope all goes well in Scotland.

For me HG always seemed a bit tatty, having said that I spend quite a lot in their two stores new here.

Yes it's the same location. 240 Great Western Road.
HG moved out and Infinity got the keys a few days later and Robert is indeed your mothers brother.
I've barely had a chance to look at the product range but it's quite impressive to say the least.
Look forward to meeting fellow tossers when you all visit.
Cheers
Kev
