Can anyone recommend a business in Herts where you can get a helicoil done? It's the centre stud for the cylinder head cover of my airhead - the thread in the cylinder head has stripped.

I know they are not difficult when you have the tools and have had some practice, but I don't have the tools and if I feck this up it would be a) a major pain and b) major cost.

Thanks :thumb2

Everybody overtightens that nut !!!!
the 2 x 10mm nuts actually secure it, the center one is just to centralise and look purrty

If your stuck, ask Wreford Miles to bring it up here next week and I'll put a repair in it for you.
Is it M10x1.5 pitch, metric coarse?

That's the best I can do for you.

Timpo.

Cheers for the offer Timpo :thumb2 However, I'm hoping to leave the head on the bike if I can find someone local.

Try Duncan

Bikers Realm is an ace place for this kind of thing.

He is in Welwyn Garden City. Sorted out my 1100 when I did the same thing. Rebuilt the head and everything. SBW Motorrad recommended them. Couldn't be more helpful.

Hope you get it sorted soon. I know how sick it makes me feel when the bike is knackered.
