Hello - newbie about to collect his first GS and it's an Airhead :)

He's seems like a decent bloke don't turn him into a IAM wanker :D

Serious question while your on the line!

what's with the triple black thing? why not just say 1200 GSA? I'm not having a dig but am genuinely curious why it appears in other peoples posts as well.

IAM guys are not wankers - it's kept me alive for the past 20 years. :-)

As I have had a total of 7 GSs (and this is my 5th GSA) I always refer to this bike as my Triple Black so I inevitably always write it too.

However I think it's a goner, I like the R100R and the GSA equally but the money tied up in the R is a fraction of the expensive one so I'm afraid it will be the one that goes. My current fleet of a Camper van, a car, three bikes and two C1 scooters is ridiculous and must be reduced, so the GSA and the K100RS 16v are to be sold.

The forks on the non PD Paralevers are pretty awful. They need more preload. There's a plastic tube that sits above the springs. On the PD bikes it's 10mm longer and makes for a better front end. You can either put the PD tubes in just drop some spacers in, start at 5mm and work up to what feels best.

One of the guys came up with a fork oil mix years ago: it's called the millichamp cocktail :-

Left : 75% 15wt, 25% 20wt

Right : 100% 15wt

That should sort the front end out.

PS - Love your Landy.

It's certainly my old bike, but i didn't recognise it at all, good luck I hope it all works out for you!
