When I test road it, I dont think it had ever been cleaned, It was the dealer demo, and knowing the reputation these bikes have as rufty tufty round the world go anywhere bikes, didnt think there would be a problem.
On swap over day a week later, the bike had been valeted, and covered in shiny laquer (Back to Black type stuff), as though to mask any faults.
Washed the bike 2 weeks later just prior to leaving for the Isle of Man, and realised that the wheels and crash bars were quite badly corroded, along with other areas of the bike. On my return a week later, (and what a great trip on the GS) went straight to Wollaston to see about a warrantee claim. The bike was dropped off a week later, to be inspected, then got a call from the service dept saying nothing is covered, and its down to my cleaning error!
Luckily I was at work when I took the call, as I was very unhappy and unable to get to the dealer, but next day after calming down, went to the dealer and sorted it out. A few days later, some feet stamping, and all sorted, the repairs ok'd.
During the repairs a house came up for sale that myself and my partner Danielle loved, offer accepted, the bike had to go to raise some money.
The bike was sold back to the dealer whilst in bits in their workshop. As far as I am aware everthing that I complained abou has been done.
Would I have another? ................Probably not.
I used it every day for work, 32 mile, and a week in the Isle of Man, 2400 , miles in 2 months. Fantastic bike to ride, very comfortabe, but I do feel over priced, and not as tough as the reputation leads you to think.
I got used to the sit up style of riding pretty instant, and thought that the engine had plenty of low down grunt, but towards the end I was missing the adrenaline the faster bikes give you (Blackbird and Hayabusa previous bikes)
Next bike will probably be another Blackbird, or possibly a ZZR 1200.
My 06 Blackbird.....
