Now then, i have a problem, just back from my local dealers (Astel of Grimsby) had the bike in with a fault thats been comming on the dash as brake warning failure, they put the bike on the computer to see if the fault had been logged in the memory turns out its the ABS servo pump thats show a fault but not all the time, it looks like they aint going to do this as a warantly claim as the bikes 2005 on a 55 plate so they want £1000 ish for the pump plus 3 hrs labour, now I,ve only had the bike just over a year and thats a bit hard to swallow and we leave for a 3 week trip for Corsica on the 6 June. My Question is, is it wise to turn the ABS off and ride without, or does anyone knows where I could get this job done cheaper coz £1300 is a bit of a lump just before we leave, over to you guys.

Regards Ullygully.

Lots of people don't have ABS, however if the fault deprives you of the servo function ie you only have residual braking then I would be loathe to undertake a long trip especially if you are going to be two up. If the bike has been regularly serviced, in particular brake fluid replaced at specified intervals, then push for a contribution from BVM as a goodwill gesture.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

:thumb2Take out travel insurance plus parts cover.

If you do have a failure part of the cost will be paid by parts cover
