Need a little help, I am coming down to cardiff for the All Blacks game in November, now normally I would stay with me mam in Swansea and travel up on the Saturday morning. But I am coming down with my boss and a couple of other guys from work. My problem is I am struggleing to find a cheapish hotel in or around Cardiff, the cheap ones in the city centre are all booked up leaving the £300 a night stuff left:eek:. So any of you boys local to Cardiff know of a hidden gem that won't be fully booked or costs an arm or a leg. All help greatly received and may even get you a pint if your in town that night.

Are you looking in the right places?

Accor have several hotels in the area with rooms available on Nov 26 & 27
Cheapest is the Etap on the M4 junction by the tunnel at Newport £50, Cardiff Ibis is £135 for city centre or £90 at Cardiff Gate. More expensive options available. http://www.accorhotels.com/

http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/ lists loads of options from £64 per room. Unfortunately for you, the Rosa gay hotel is not available.

When I went to see Bruce Springsteen at the Millennium we stayed at a b&b in Newport and went into Cardiff by train. If you are going to make a weekend of it try renting an apartment in Cardiff - it's not much more expensive than a hotel if a few of you are sharing the costs but they are for weekend or 2 nights at least.

Hi Wessie,

How you doing, hope you had a good trip once you left us in Bouillon. I did look at the Rosa, very nice inside looking at the picks and with my good looks you know I wouldn't be safe.:augie

Anyway thanks for all your replies, managed to sort something out now.:thumb2

The Vosges/Alsace part of my trip was good. Mostly dry for riding around the Vosges. Being there in mid-week meant the roads were fairly quiet which was nice. Hotel recommended here was okay, but a bit quirky but that's the Dutch for you. Excellent evening at my mate's house, drinking several bottles of wine and talking bollocks around his pool. Journey home was okay but I felt the cold once north of Nancy. Took me a week to get used to N European temperatures. I stopped overnight in Reims on the way home. I didn't fancy eating in the plastic hotel so wandered around and stumbled on a very good restaurant. Lots of local people in there which is a good sign. Fab entrée, steak & a quite wonderful bottle of Pomerol. Trip home uneventful, even on the M25 where the inevitable crash was on the other carriageway.
