HELP BUYING LAPTOP FOR SON

Have viewed a Compaq Intel Centrino 1.86MHZ = 3.4 MHZ on e.bay and wondered if this would be a good buy for our 10 year old who wants to have his own laptop. It has DVD/RW and accessories include wireless adaptor software and case.

HELP - how much should we pay?

Instant reaction is that unless it's really a good price, don't do it.....

There was a PC World ad for a cheap laptop that has a goodish spec on earlier....TBH I'd go for that or one similar, so you know you've got a good battery ( always a problem with 2nd hand laptops) as well as pukka windows discs, bundled software and a guarantee.

I wasn't paying to much attention but I think it was £299.......

Dell have them for £299 at the moment, not sure if thats with an extra £50 off or including £50 off. go to following about half way down and follow link.
