Looking to get a cheap sub £100 tablet, havent got a clue on these things so looking for help on what to look for or recomendations on which one to get.
Did like the look of the Ainol Nuvo 7 Aurora but is a 7" ok for watching videos and browsing the web ?
Thanks

I've got a Galaxy Tab P1000 here and it has a 7 inch screen (1024x600). It's OK for watching TV and videos on but I find that some fields on web browsers are a bit small to hit accurately - on here, trying to select the latest posts gets me the last 2 days as often as not, instead of the last day. I'm also always clicking on thread titles and getting the profiles of the original poster instead. You can live with it though and it's a heck of a lot more portable than an iPad.

At that price, do you definitely want Android? PC World still have stocks of 64G Playbooks for £129. (They run on QNX but can emulate Android and many Android apps work on them). The Flash implementation works really well too.

That reminds me, I found out today that Flash and hence iPlayer are not supported on Jellybean (Android 4.1) just after I had upgraded :blast The Beeb are looking into alternatives, but have given no assurances on how long it will be before an alternative is sorted.

Don't touch the Arnova they don't come with Google Play Store and no way to get it on (without messing with firmware).

7" is a great size for watching movies, I use a Asus Google Nexus which is brill, I also have an Arnova which while it is nice (and has 3G built-in) without the Google Play Store it is lacking much of the useful apps I have on the Nexus.

Google Play Store used to be called Google Market, if either of these are in spec and it has 1GHz or higher processor and 500mB of memory, 8GB of storage you should be good to go.

If you can I would stretch to an 8gb nexus 7 if you can or hold on. Google are roumoured to be releasing a tablet for 100. If it is anything like the nexus7 it will be worth the wait. I have an iPad but want something to commute with and I am seriously considering the nexus. I have used a couple of other tablets that have run android variants but nothing was as good or ran as well as it did on the google. The other one to consider after research is a blackberry playbook now within you grasp. Research first though some love some hate. From experience it's worth paying a few quid more to get a good product rather than buy a cheaper version that you hate and can't update but that's only my opinion.
If I wanted a tab now that isn't ipad money nexus wins hands down.

Argus are doing a 7 inch and 9 inch can't think ok the name but it works for googling and anything I have tried on line banking ukgser I have not tried movies but they are cheap jjh

I had a 7inch Scroll /Storage Options excel for abit, as a result of suzi Perry giving her blessing on channel 4.
Whilst it wasn't no ipad at 120 quid I thought it ace, until I dropped and killed it.
As I result of having won a few hundred quid of amazon tokens I got an new iPAD. Not impressed for the money at all.

so I would certainly look at engage for £112 at amazon

They will all do Googling, what the cheaper ones often don't do is Google Play (the app store from Google) other app stores have much more limited selections of apps.

Even things like Google maps aren't available in the proper version from other app stores.

The Google Nexus is brilliant but you really want the 16GB version as it does not take micro SD cards so isn't upgradeable. Even Asda only sell the 16GB version.

Other thing to note is not all tablets have a GPS chip, the Nexus does and it works well, the Arnova has too but the GPS reception is very very poor and slow to get a lock. Nexus GPS works in house and on train no problems

As the Nexus is main stream getting a nice case is easy, my case turns the screen on/off when opening/closing screen cover.

I have a Nexus 7 16Gb, it does all that you'll want from a tablet. If the screen size suits it's a no brainer I think.
If the storage is an issue the nexus 7 is a doddle to unlock. You can then get yourself an "On the go" cable (£3 from Fleabay) and use USB devices thereby increasing your storage.

I have a sub £100 tablet (sumovision astro +) and soon decided I wanted something with Bluetooth and GPS so got a Nexus 7. While the astro is quite good it can be a bit un responsive and slow. The Nexus 7 on the other hand is brilliant it will run BBC Iplayer if you put flash player on it. you have to download the APK file and load it manualy as with most of the other apps google play wont let you download because they have not been tested on jellybean yet, but most of them work :thumb2

just my 2p worth...

looked at both the Nexus 7 £200 and Playbook £130 recently....it was a close call, but in the end I went with the Playbook...reasons....

1. more storage on board (i understand you can add external drives etc but If I was going to do that I might as well take my laptop!!
2. looks feels well put together
3. if I drop/ break it I won't loose too much sleep (but might still cry a bit!)

youre best bet is to try as many as you can and see what you like the feel of...its horses for courses

upon further investigation I may get one of these and install it in my old 4x4 paj.

Hook it up to the input for the current radio thingy for the amp and speakers.

Bluetooth - GPs - Music - just the job :thumb
