Help. Data recovery from SD card.

My SD card seems to have thrown a wobbler whilst trying to transfer some pictures and video from the card to my laptop. Could see the thumbnails to start with but it didn't want to let me transfer them. As it wasn't happening I removed the card and closed all down to try again.
Now when I try to view the files on the card it tells me that it's not formatted.
Tried it back in the camera and as soon as it is loaded it wants to format it.

So is it possible to somehow save these pics and video or have they been lost forever?

Thanks Clive, that worked a treat and have recovered all the photo's and video that I wanted. However...

All but one video will not play. Have tried a few different players including VLC which does not recognise the file format, which I think should be mp4.

Is there anything which can repair them??

I've not used either of those to recover video.

Perhaps try both to see if they recover files differently?

If VLC can't play them then they are probably fecked
