Hi guys i know you boys have done this to death,iv been reading through the threads but still not sure.Want to fit a Y piece retaining the standard pipe to my 05 1150gsa,there seems to be a mod that needs to be done to enable smooth running,i dont want to bollox my bike so can you chaps enlighten me and tell me if theres anyone local to the southend on sea area that can do the mod for me the Y piece is a motad with the lambo sensor. many thanks..:bow

ok

ok thanx John, its just that from reading the threads the jist was that if you do fit the Y piece you're gonna need to do the mod? Regards

mine needed nothing,BUT it ran better with a techlusion, lot of money for little improvement though, bang the Y piece on an check plugs later
dont read too much on here itl scare you, you only hear of the bad things

First y-piece was a Remus on a single spark GS. No surging before and none after :)

Second was a BOS, it was a kit with end can, y-piece and chip for the techlusion.

As I said, the mod is AFAIK to sort out surging, not a y-piece tool. It may help if you're concerned, to have the bike dyno'd before and after the y-piece.

I fitted a Y to my 1150 and it was fine without the electrical 'Steptoe' mod. It did at least 50 k miles like this until it was sold. I think if you only fit the Y and run a standard can and air filter you should be OK. With an aftermarket exhaust and a K&N filter you may start to run too lean. There are loads of threads about this if you keep looking

or just fit one of Bryn's Stubbys..... Save the weight and get the gains without any messing about or cost - win win :)

cheers guys

that stubby thang is growing on me,lol but your right guys reading into this stuff is mindblowin, food for thought so il go ride and think!!!! thanks

No need for any mods at all - fit the Y piece if the bikes running fine leave things alone.
