help identifying a bike

how do all..

picked up a bit of a billy bargain at the weekend, got myself this bike for €70 off a chap from a website..
it came with no papers, doesnt seem to be a VIN, no plates.. it is a little sad and sorry.. it has been a field scrambler then stored in a shed for years..

The Engine code is J401-105929.

It looks very like a 1985 DR 250, but then I noticed it had drum brakes front and back.. so looks very like a SP 250... I have trawled through the suzuki bikes website and looks at all the pics and cannot seem to see anything that resembles this with the drum brakes and style of tank/seat

so any ideas would be very welcome..

Im no expert....andf my memory is hazy to say the least...but it looks remarkably similar to a 185cc I had circa 1976...but its just a suggestion!!!

was guessing it was around early 80's DR.. but couldn't be 100% sure.

I like the colours in that pic you posted... gonna restore to that !!!

and for the icing on the cake (not that I doubted you )

with numerous applications of nitromors.. I found the VIN under 4 layers of

white/red/green/black paint

it is a SJ41A 82/83 DR 250
