Can anyone help identify the 2 pin socket that is located just under the right hand side of the pillion seat? It has a green/white and green/blue cable going to it. The only thing I can find on the schematic that looks similar is the “timing valve” connector. If it is that then what is a timing valve and why haven’t I got one?? I have no particular reason for asking this I am just curious.

a charcoal filter? Is this some kind of tree-hugger accessory?
well whatever it is that it's supposed to be connected to I want one too.........is it expensive?

Thanks for the replies. Now I will be able to sleep at night, or at least worry about something else.

According to the circuit diagram, it comes directly from the Motronic Control Unit, and is called the "Timing Valve"

And yes, it's the Carbon Canister valve.

And here's the boring bit if you want to know what it is:-

The Carbon Can absorbs the petrol fumes that are given off by your tank when your bike is at rest. When the engine is warmed up, this valve opens, and the petrol vapours are pulled out of the carbon canister and burned in the engine.

Cars have had this in the UK for over 10 years, but emissions controls are less strict on bikes than cars.

So now you know...
