Help! Ignition problem

Hi,
I have an intermittent problem with the ignition on my 07 gs.

When I turn the key, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes the LCD display shows the time and Odo like when you turn off the ignition and sometimes the system powers up as normal.

Normally I would just take the bike to the dealer but all the local ones, SLM, Vines and Chandlers are all booked up and I am going to France on Thursay evening.

Initial thought from BMW assist guy was the battery but it has been checked and it's healthy. The EWS ring was replaced under recall but that would not stop the display powering up.

I took the ignition switch unit off the bottom of the ignition barrel and wiggled (technical term) and the bike powered up but I am wondering if this unit may be on it's way out.

Any ideas?

"Normally" with electro mechanical devices it's the mechanical side that's problematic. Your "wiggling" may have found the culprit. However.. I'm no expert but at least it's worth the bump...
