Help needed: install TT bashplate

I have bought the TT bashplate but I'm not sure how to remove the original rubberadapters mounted on the bike. Are these screwed info the bottom of the bike or simply glued to the bike? How do I remove them without destroying them?

They are screwed in. There is a hexagonal form to them (on my 2008 model) which you might be able to get a socket on; I think they are approximately 21mm, maybe bigger or smaller than that. The hexagonal form is metal, but covered with a thin layer of rubber at each end. If you can, try to grab them as close to the engine casing as possible. No glue should be involved!

Mine came out fairly easily. I wish I could say the same about the TT rubber adaptors, but I'm trying to remove them at present because a heavy bash sheared 3 of them off, and so far I've managed to remove only 2, using a hammer and chisel (and a Dremel, and a lot of swearing).

Nah ... I can't do it. They are stuck so I feel like giving up actually I'm thinking about using the original rubberadapters in stead of TT's. Seems to work fine except that there will be four bolts underneath the bashplate instead of a smooth surface.

You might have to add spacers, but I may be telling you something you already know.

They should come out though, mine were easy to remove but sadly I can't remember exactly what tool I used - ring spanner? socket? open end? You might already have noticed that the TT rubbers have no hex form on them, hence my struggles. Which are continuing.

heres a picture hope it helps, ignore the hex spacers added to give clearance for my remus pipes, rest of the brackets nuts n bolts should be what you have, the BMW bash plate which I think is the TT one (accepts there crud catcher/tool box)

I just used a pair of pliers to grip the screw thread rather than the rubber, I had no joy trying to get them off when I was trying to unscrew on the rubber, came off pretty easy for me then.

I forgot to mention that my bike is a 800GS. I have tried using a plug socket without any luck. I also tried to use a heater (recommended by TT) without any luck. I managed to tear one of the rubber adapters doing this, and it seems that the metal plates are only attached to both ends of the rubber adapter (ie. the middle part of the rubber adapter is pure rubber). I don't want to destroy my bike so for now I just reinstalled to original bash plate awaiting further instructions
