So I have myself a 1250 GS with the TFT dash. I also have the BMW Nav vi, a Cardo g9x headset and an iPhone. What do I pair to what as I can’t seem to get everything to work. I want to be able to hear my sat nav, listen to music ideally from my phone and possibly be able to answer and make calls also, although I can live without the calls. I just don’t know which to connect what too.. I have tried various configurations and it just doesn’t work them all :banghead: I used to be be really good with technology, must be my age :duno

Connect everything to the TFT.

So phone, headset and nav vi connects to TFT? I new it would be simple:thumb2
Yep, I only had the Nav for about 2 weeks when I returned it and decided to use my phone on a ram mount instead but I have my Sena Bluetooth and my phone both connected to the TFT and it all works well.

Once connected to the TFT you can control both (to a degree) from the wonder wheel. Skipping track, pausing, phone book, answer and hang up etc.

-first headset to tft
-second phone to tft
-third nav6 to headset second channel
-forth if needed headset to passenger headset
-optional install bmw connect app and garmin app on the phone DO NOT connect phone to headset

ps. get used to the tft loosing pairings from time to time and having to do everything again, just reset the headset and do it again, same to bmw´s app start the bike and start the app manually

I have a 1250 GSA with TFT, Nav 6 and Cardo Packtalk Bold and a Sony android phone. In this order I paired in this order.

1, headset to the TFT.
2 headset to Nav 6 (with alerts off, but paired so I can hear it if I choose.)
3, phone to TFT, allow access to calls, contacts media etc.
4, phone to nav, NO access to contacts, phone etc, smartphone link only.
5, pair to passenger if you have one.

I use the BMW Motorrad Connected app and the Garmin app both connected. Works a treat. I can take and make calls and browse contacts via TFT. There is navigation there if you want to set it up via the TFT. Access radio or music on my phone via TFT and Nav will alert if I allow it. I can also talk freely to my passenger. Worked a treat every day I was away last summer. Some pairings lost when I tried recently after 3-4 months of no use. I will just delete all pairings and re pair in that order.

Hope this helps

Nigel

And when finally get it to work, enjoy it because it'll all go to shit next time you turn off the bike or forget to turn on your headset before turning on the bike.

In fewer words, TFT looks nice but it's a piece of crap when it comes to connectivity.

Very sad and BMW has no answer to it.

100% of all TFT failures are either user error, or obsolete out of date hardware. :rob
I, as all my mates. have full, reliable, no issues at all functionality. Great bit of GS evolution.:thumb

Not the case here, have pretty much the latest of everything and about 20 years of experience in IT.

Really happy for your mates but, it's the most rare cases. Most people have issues and they end up dropping the GPS or the TFT all together and just going back to connect headset to phone.

Can't recommend it enough. Loads of my mates have used it and it works great.

Watched the video earlier which was great. Also did everything as suggested. Still not receiving calls but I’m guessing it’s something to do with my headset rather than the setup as not got that to work for ages no matter how I set it up. Guess I need to purchase another. Only question I have is - is does not mention connecting the nav vi to the TFT. Am I missing something or do you not connect this? I did try too connect to TFT afterwards but it would not connect, just kept saying failed. Not had much chance to use the bike much due to weather but I would like to be able to us the nav vi with the wonder wheel as well which I’m guessing I would need to be able to connect it too the TFT to enable this:nenau

I’m not sure the G9x will work for phone calls via TFT. I have the G9 and it won’t do it. Everything else like connected app works but calls are without sound.
I could be wrong but I think only the newer packtalk bold/slim work for calls via TFT.

Snap

BMW are fully aware of the issues and constantly tweaking it to try to make it more reliable
Mine will randomly decide to forget my iPhone.

Evening Nigel

Do you have the bold in DMC or bluetooth mode. I’ve 1200GSA with TFT, Nav 6, Bold and an iphone, and at least once a fortnight I have issues with connectivity and have to do a re set etc

I think you may be right. It connects but have no sound. Not even the dial tone when I make a call. Guess need a newer headset. Possibly looking to get the sena 30k as this sounds like it works ok with it

Same here, I can connect everything fine but every other week the tft forgets the headset or the phone or both and I have to reset everything :-(

I have the same issues now and again.Pain in the ass setting it up again.

I don't connect everything to everything and all seems to work and remember pairings.
I use a Nav V1 so i don't need directions on the TFT.
I connect :
Headset to NAV (gives me music and spoken directions)
Phone to NAV (gives me the ability to make / receive calls and bring up phone book on NAV )
Phone to TFT (so i can use the connected app )

Simple and effective, it works

I use it in Bluetooth mode. No need for DMC for me as its just me and the other half who is sitting behind me. So the way I see it I don't need to be able to connect multiple headsets that are further up the road. I was away for over a week last summer and all connected up every day, used it again a few time through rest of summer, again no issue. Left it from about October to last week and TFT had lost its pairings. When I plan to use the bike again I will delete all pairings and re set up and hopefully it will al perform like it did last summer.
