I am posting this thread to try and help out silver fox.....A while back he posted this thread...

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66411

Well he is still having problems with the feckin bolt. Has tried heat, penetrating oil the works,drilling..everything and still no joy. Is it threaded inside or what? We dont know!!!! Wanted to get the engine bars off which are attached to the bolt as they were looking a bit shabby. Worse now as they are sawn(did not want them anyway).

So is there someone who has had this problem? Or a super dooper guy/gal who can give him a solution to get the frickin bolt OUT!! The end has sheared too :spitfire

Here are a couple of pics to show you.

if you are not going to use the hole for some thing else try using a small angle grinder to cut each end of bolt flush with cases, or try using a blow torch to heat cases VERY GENTLY

Feckin Bolt

Cheers for that Macca. Mumfy is this bolt not used to hold the crank case halves together??? It was holding a pair of rusty old engine bars.

Feckin bolt

Hi Lads
You could try this ,at work if I find a siezed pin or bolt that doesnt come out with normal treatment i.e hammer or bigger hammer I use an air chisel with the end ground back till you have a round punch remaining ,this may help just be careful you dont hit the side of the crankcase . I have removed pins etc that would not come out no matter how big a hammer I used using this method hpe this helps

This is just a unused bolt hole in my 1100 motor, so you could just cut both ends off & clean up & paint it, the only time it will cause a problem is if you need to split the engine , @ which point as the engine would be out you could use a press & press it out :D

Get yourself a length of reasonable thick wall pipe about 1/4 or 1/8, I used air supply pipe, say 12 inch long...... you then need to source a nice piece of steel rod that fits snugly inside the pipe but still slides and is a gnat smaller than the dia of the bolt it should be about 4/5 inches longer than the pipe....... following this....
This is where the help of a mate comes in handy' get the heat going on that case again...... then slip the pipe over the remaining bolt and using the steel rod down the tube butted against the bolt quickly eye it up and get your mate to whack the rod with the large knocker, it worked for me when I had remove a siezed engine bolt from a VF1000 a few years back. The pipe acts as good guide/aiming the rod at the bolt also keeps the knocker away from the engine cases. good luck.

Thanks guys, bigger hammer then as i dont have access to air tools. Just worried that it might be used for bolting the cases together? If not therefore the hole it goes through shouldn't be threaded then? Must be just completely siezed in the hole!!! and a bloody tight fit.

YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHAAAAAAA :D
It's finally out, after one snapped easy out, two drill bits and various aches pains!!!!
Finally ended up drilling down the centre of the bolt, and even had to use my Dremel to cut of the bracket and bolt head. :clap
Just come out the garage and now it's time for

Many thanks for all your advice tossers, it's good to know you're all out there in times of need. :beerjug:
