Hello
Can any of you helpful chaps help out with regards to an Ohlins rear shock for a 2001 R1150GS. I bought the shock on e-bay and am not sure how to set it up.
The spring pre-load is by remote hydraulic adjuster, but looks like it may also be adjustable manually on the shock using a c spanner. I am asking because there is what looks like a chrome pin in the part of the shock that has the remote adjuster connecter. This pin seems to be designed to stop the adjusting ring from being rotated. To me it looks like the adjusting ring is screwed up as far as it will go, leaving a lot of thread showing on the body. Is this something that is set at the factory and does the factory setting for a GS involve winding up the pre-load.
If the pre-load is manually adjustable, by rotating the adjusting ring, does the pin have to be removed. The adjusting ring looks like the usual type that would take a c spanner.
The rebound adjustment is another unknown. Looking on the Ohlins website it says screw the adjuster all the way out then back in a number of clicks. Does anyone know how many this is for a GS.
Finally, I tried to find out which shock I had got from the Ohlins website but with no luck. The shock I have has a remote pre-load adjuster and the following marked on the spring 1095-54/140 L461. The eye to eye length is 380 mm and there is currently about 33 mm of pre-load adjusting thread visible on its current setting.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
