Help on BMW Tall screen

Hi Gents,
I have had my 2003 GS fitted with the BMW tall screen from the beginning and I always had a few problems with buffetting.
Apart from this pain in the arse, I also experience, while riding in the dark, the screen to "lighten up" especially with the High beam, so much that I can barely see at times, because of the high reflections I get from the screen to my helmet.
I was thinking of painting the inside of the screen, put some dark matte film on, or maybe mount the original silver plastic plate beneath it.
What do you guys think would be wiser to do and how can you mount the original silver windshield all together with this screen?

Some dark film like they use to tint windows should be ok, but then again have you considered one of those fog city visor inserts that react to light? I have one and it changes to a blue colour quite quickly in the sun and stops that dangerous low sun glare and at night cuts a lot of the oncoming traffic glare so that should sort reflection from the screen. And it prevents fogging aswell, I find I don't need sunglasses with it in either.

Do a search for Tobinators....they will most likely solve both your problems.

Don't think they do one for the 650 do they? I suppose one of the other kits might be able to be modded. I did notice a screen mod on f650.co.uk that might work along the same lines though.

A simple piece of black insulating tape stuck onto the bottom of the screen solves 'that' problem. Or just paint the bottom edge black. Whichever is the simplest / quickest for you.

... or I've seen one instance where the black tape was just fixed onto the top part of the headlamp so that light from it couldn't go 'upwards'. It's a common problem, easily (and cheaply) resolved.

Has any of you tried the Touratech Spoiler? ...does it work?

The black tape works for the reflection. I guess the screen works like "fiber optics way" and transfer the light it gets from the bottom lip to the top.

Now I'll have to find a solution for the buffeting.
I think I will work on my original screen....
Maybe I should "glue" some kind of plastic lip to the top side, to give the airstream just enough push to overflow the top of my helmet...

Any idea?

Have you looked at the screen mod found on www.f650.co.uk ? I know it sounds like a bit of work but probable no more than glue!
